Important:
This is meant to be transliteration of Tamil Parayana. When you suggest corrections please try to make sure they match the original Tamil pronunciation.
Background: Tamil language, especially, the older and formal written version of the parayayana songs, lacks differentiation between letters like ka/ga/kha/gha, ta/da, tha/dha and cha/sha/sa/ja. These letters were simply written as ka, ta, tha and cha.
When words are sounded out, they are meant to sound accordingly in a natural fashion. Also, it is acceptable if people pronounce these sounds differently if they choose to do so.
Now, during these modern times, new letters have been introduced for Sha, Sa and Ja; still most written forms may still use only Cha to represent these sounds.
The transliteration of parayana from Tamil to other languages has been mostly scripted and simply converts the letters from the Tamil and a Telugu version and hence suffers many mispronunciations.
Do remember that the entire Tamil parayana is poetry, not prose. It chooses to combine and break words in certain ways for poetic reasons, a very normal practice in Tamil poetry. They are meant to be recited that way to keep the chanting meter right.
Do check with an experienced native Tamil Parayana reciter before you start suggesting a whole lot of replacements in any of your intended language.
Please be patient after you submit corrections. We expect a lot of duplicate submissions and the requests will be handled in a batched manner on a weekly or monthly basis by semi-automatic scripts with little human intervention.
